Something New
I had said I want to take you along my journey this year. I may have forgotten all about being social until I realised that I had accepted to go for a social outing on Friday night. As a perfectly normal woman - I had 'nothing' to wear. I was an hour late to the event. I am so ashamed of myself for doing that but that will be a story for another time. I had a really good time at the social. Meeting people outside of work is always stressful because I never know what to say and what jokes are actually suppose to be funny so my laughter comes like a video chat with bad internet reception almost 30 full seconds after the laughter began. I had said I was going to be more social this year and I was determine to do that.
The highlight of the night was when I was leaving

Not like that .....
I was excited someone invited me to go hiking. Something I have always wanted to do but never felt up to it. You see I am one who only excises if there is a reward at the end and some of those rewards are not always 'healthy'. Besides there was no way I was ever going to motivate myself enough to get up on my own and go hiking? Do I look like some fitness junkie? (please say yes). I digress, so I was asked to go hiking and before I said yes, the lady added at 6:30 am. I was like WHAT!!!!! You want me to get up before 7 am on a weekend. I am not even awake at 7 am on a work day ( I have perfected a morning routine from bed to car in 20 min, it takes me 15 minutes to work. So I can be up at 7:15 am and still be at work at 8:00 am all bright , happy and hungry; I eat breakfast at work). However, I agreed to give it a try.
I loved HIKING.
It would have never occurred to me that I would like it but I do. I was terrible at it. This has to do with hand-eye coordination so duh! of cause I will be terrible at hiking. But I loved it.
It played out like life to me, you go up the hills, encounter so many twist and turns and then you are faced with this amazing view - which i called snippets of joy. Moments that take any breath you have left away , the natural wonder as the sky kisses the earth with all the glory of a wonderful sunny morning, even the sun is a bit sluggish to get up just savouring the last few moments of the night and you, a mere human are audience to such magnificent sight. It was quite indescribable and made me want to go through that torture over and over again of climbing and descending. In the end, the grounds are level everything seems easy and you are at peace with the end of the journey. You are content and willing to rest the journey is almost over. I like that I tried something new and enjoyed it.
