Addiction
A few posts ago I mentioned that I had rediscovered my love for reading novels. This is true I did but I did not act on as as I thought I would. I read a few books here and there but nothing concrete. That was a good thing because it meant I had time to concentrate on my research that would change the world as we know it.
All these bare minimum novel reading came to an end last week when I discovered the evil called ibooks app on my ipad. I always knew it was there but I never knew what power it possessed. I didn't know I could have as many books as I wanted on that thing. Until last week the only thing I had on the app were pdf files of crochet designs and some documents I downloaded from my emails.
I can not take credit for this discovery since is HB that showed me how to obtain the eBooks. I am sure he was not intending for me to sleep at 4 am in the morning because I just had to finish a book. So from last friday till now I have read a total of five eBooks and four paper backs. That means there are days I read up to two books. It is bad I cant stop myself. I wake up thinking of a new book to read. I must say I am tending towards the supernatural and dark romance kind of books I wonder why. Some of them are nice and there are some I wonder why the author is still walking around free for such an injustice he/she has done to the world.
Some of the books I read that have really stood out for me are
Saint by Ted Dekker: He is one of my favorite authors but in my opinion he is playing this damsel in distress thing too much in his books
Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick: First time I have read her books not bad, almost tending towards twilight but anything is better than twilight although I have read Twilight 3 times. Now I have to read the remaining two sequel of the book (Why do all these books have parts, as if watching series was not enough you have to read series now).
The Two Pearls of Wisdom by Alison Goodman: This book is what started the addiction, I have the paper back of the part two of this book (Necklace of the gods) but I had to read the first part before that, I am OCD like that. Nice book loved every word of it makes me proud to be a woman (read the book you will understand). I am waiting for the right time to read the part two, it would be like opening a present, where I will read from the Preface to the end of the last page.
Sins of the Demon/ Secrets of the Demon by Diana Rowland: I am not proud of myself for reading those but then every now and then people slip and do stupid things. I can not believe I read two of the books and I am looking forward to the last part of the series.
So those are the five of the nine books I read in less than a week I would tell you about the other three but then I will have to kill you after. There is no need to mention that my research has been put on hold until I can satisfying my craving for fiction. The only problem with addiction is you are never satisfied. I need to forcefully stop myself before my my supervisor finds out that I my lack of solutions is due to lack of studying and research.
On a lighter note South Africa is having women's day tomorrow which means the weekend starts today. I just love this country and their public holiday. So happy weekend.
